Udhagamandalam, Feb 25:
State Khadi Minister K Ramachandran inaugurated a number of welfare schemes for small and marginal farmers at Anna Indoor stadium in Nilgiris recently.
He also distributed old age pensions to 76 persons. In the past nine months, poll-related welfare schemes worth Rs 23,594 crore were being implemented and the State received an income of Rs 24,548 crore. The Minister charged that the Opposition was not able to digest the rapid development of the State and hence they claim these welfare schemes would result in bankruptcy. 'However, there is an increase of 20 per cent in income as compared to last year's revenue,' the Minister said.
In the revised budget, the income was Rs 38,732 crore without including taxes and for the several welfare projects being implemented over the past nine months, the capital expenditure was Rs 23,594 crore.
District Collector Santosh Misra who presided over the function said about 1.77 lakh farm labours and small farmers would be benefited through the welfare schemes kicked off by the Minister in the Nilgiris.
He also requested the beneficiaries
to cooperate with the officials in filling up four required forms to get
their ID cards to avail the benefits of the projects.
