Chennai, Aug 25:
| The strength of cadets at Officers Training
Academy in Chennai is likely to be increased in future from the present
induction of 500 to 750 cadets in view of the shortage of officers in the
Army, said Brigadier Ashok Pillai, Officiating Commandant of OTA.
He was briefing reporters during a press meet conducted by the OTA on the future plans and activities. Ashok Pillai said the talks were on at a higher level to induct more cadets at various training academies in the country besides the fact that more infrastructure development would be required to accommodate the proposed strength. He further said that as part of this plan, few other places were being identified for carrying out the training, which would be a baffle range with indoor facilities. However, he said, it's in the primary stage and would take some time. Talking about other initiatives, he said plans were on to increase the period of training to women cadets from 26 weeks to 49 weeks on par with that of gentlemen cadets. |
