More flights from Chennai to S’pore

        Singapore Airlines announced the commencement of its two additional services from Chennai, taking the total number of flights to 10 times a week. In addition to the night flights seven days a week, there will be morning flights every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.

        The airliner will be using the Boeing-777-200 aircraft with a two class configuration-30 business and 293 economy class seats for this service, offering more connection options to several cities in the carrier’s global network especially Australia, New Zealand and the North Asian region.

        Moreover, the airliner will switch to a 3-class seat arrangement from October this year (12-First, 42 Business and 234 Economy seats).

        As a part of the launch, Singapore Airlines has come out with its new inflight meal option named ‘Popular Local Choice’ for its customers from this region. The new South Indian menu option is a veritable feast that comprises a delicious regional starter, rice-based main course and a signature desert.

        This Indian meal will be available to customers from all three classes from 28 October this year. The traditional delicacies include Vendakai pachadi, Urulai Moochai Varuval, Chow Chow Kootu and Elaneer Basunthi.

        Speaking on this occassion C W Foo, general manager, Singapore Airlines said that their endeavour was to consistently provide localised inflight selections to their Indian customers. Besides this, Singapore Airlines announced special fares to select destinations.

        The discounts range from 67 per cent to 21 per cent on current economy fares to key locales in Malaysia, Korea, China, Japan and Australia besides Singapore and Hong Kong. However, these special fares do not include taxes and surcharges as they are additionally charged.
