The Central government would release the balance of Rs 75 crore from a total Rs 99.75 crore fund allocated under the National e-Governance Plan for the State Wide Area Network services to Tamilnadu.
According to a release, Union
Minister for IT and Communication Dayanidhi Maran had written a letter
to Tamilnadu Chief Minister stating that Tahsildar, District Collectorates,
Transport, Civil Supplies departments , Municipalities, Town Panchayats
and Registrar offices would get the State Wide Area Network services. State
data centre would also be set up in Chennai by April 2007.
