        Madras Union of Journalists (MUJ) have thanked Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for increasing the pension and family pension of journalists in the State budget presented yesterday.

        The government has also modified the scheme to enable the families of journalist who die in harness to easily obtain the assistance given to them.

        MUJ have also thanked Finance Minister K Anbazhagan for announcing that a separate welfare fund for journalists will be established, a press release said.
