        National Egg Co-ordination Committee has thanked Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for providing three eggs per week for students under the mid-day meal programme.

        State Finance Minister K Anbazhagan who presented the budget yesterday announced that the distribution of eggs to children in government school has been increased from two to three.

        Welcoming the decision, chairperson of National Egg Co-ordination Committee Anuradha J Desai said the implementation of three eggs would improve the nutrition standards of the growing children and also give a boost to the literacy drive, a press release said.
