State Local Administration Minister M K Stalin today launched the second phase of distribution of free colour televisions sets at Thousand Lights today.
Distributing CTVs to poor families, Stalin said the second phase of the scheme was launched in the State by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at Pammath Kullam village at Tiruvallur District. But the scheme could not be implemented in Chennai as Corporation bye-poll was announced.
He said the Chief Minister would distribute the CTVs at Chepauk on 27 March. The Minister further said 25 lakh television sets has been purchased at a cost of Rs 685 crore for the second phase. In Chennai, around 32,340 CTVs would be distributed, he said.
