Paramount Airways managing director M Thiagarajan receiving the Udyog Rattan award from former Tamilnadu Governor Bhishma Narain Singh at a function held in Delhi.

        Delhi-based Institute of Economic Studies, one of the country's premier research institutes, has conferred the 'Udyog Rattan Award' on Thiagarajan, managing director, Paramount Airways and the award for excellence to Paramount Airways.

        The award was presented by Dr Bhishma Narain Singh, former Governor of Tamilnadu and Assam in recognition of Thiagarajan's excellence in productivity, quality, innovation and management in the aviation sector. Thiagarajan is the youngest MD in the airline industry. The airline is the only one in the country to offer an all business class service at the economy class fare of other airlines.

        Accepting the award, Thiagarajan said, 'I am immensely pleased to receive this award. I am also proud to state that Paramount Airways is the only high value carrier in the country and today its model is emulated across the world. In less than a year, Paramount has conquered the Southern Skies and is the market leader. The credit goes to our travelers who have shown all the faith and confidence in our model and have encouraged this expansion. It is a moment to cherish and I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank all the Paramount employees who have supported me.'

        It may be noted that the Udyog Rattan award and award for excellence is conferred by the Institute of Economic Studies every year. IES (www.iesindia.com) was established in 1980 by a group of economists, parliamentarians and industrialists who came together to study and discuss problems concerning various aspects of the economy and economic development of India and offer their expert advice and services.
