Indian Oil takes lead in aviation fuel biz

NT Bureau
Chennai, Feb 24:

Indian Oil takes the lead in the aviation fuel business in the country with the largest market share of 64 per cent, observed Indian Oil director G C Daga.

Speaking at the 15th International Aviation meet held in Kochi recently, he said that our leadership stems from achieving global benchmark standards in our operating and service standards and added

that in Bangalore International Airport Ltd, they are leading a consortium of world class companies like Skytanking and IOTL for setting up new generation aviation refuelling and storage facilities which will easily rank amongst the best in the world.

Daga complimented airline companies for continuing to deliver value to customers despite a debilitating impact on the bottomline. The domestic passenger traffic at Indian airports is expected to grow by about 25 per cent and international traffic by about 15 per cent annually. Aviation fuel growth which is currently poised at about 15-20 per cent annually, is also expected to maintain the growth trend considering the future growth potential in air travel in the country.

Thorsten Luft, general manager, Middle East Businesses, Air BP also addressed the delegates.

Earlier, Indian Oil general manager, aviation, R Sareen welcomed the gathering while Indian Oil general manager, regional services, M Nageswaran proposed a vote of thanks.

In his address , he stressed the need for safety in aviation operations which is very essential in the present scenario in India where there is an airline boom. The challenge clearly is to manage the transition with a clear focus on quality operations.
