Abduction: Cops seek Interpol help

NT Bureau
Chennai, Dec 24:

Even as an industrialist was rescued from abductors in Malaysia, the Chennai city police has sought the help of the Interpol to bring the kingpin behind the abduction to book.

It may be noted that two friends — Subramani and Senthil Kumar - were running a labour recruitment agency in Chennai for upcountry jobs.

Senthil Kumar severed ties with his friend following a misunderstanding. Later he left for Malaysia. His friend too followed suit.

In Malaysia, Senthil Kumar, with the help of some Malaysian friends, abducted Subramani on 17 December. Senthil is understood to have demanded Rs 10 lakh from Subramani's brother Govindaraj in Chennai. And Govindaraj mobilised funds after disposing of the land.

Senthil Kumar directed Govindaraj to hand over the money to two persons on motorcycle near Udayam Theatre. Govindaraj, before proceeding to the specified place, informed the police who laid a trap and caught the duo on motorcycle. The arrested persons were identified as Ramdas and Michael Raj. Police asked the duo to inform Senthil Kumar they have received the money. Following this, Senthil Kumar released Subramani, who returned to Chennai yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Chennai city police have sought the help of Interpol to catch Senthil Kumar, the brain behind the abduction.
