Actor Kamal Haasan today thanked Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for taking proactive measures to revive the Tamil film industry.
Speaking at the 100th Day celebrations of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu here, Kamal Haasan said at a time when speaking in Tamil was considered as 'something demeaning', Karunanidhi has taken all efforts to bring repute to the language.
Cinema and democracy were synonymous. Both need a good team to give them their best, Kamal Haasan said, and added Kollywood was marching ahead for a bright future, thanks to several measures taken by Karunanidhi. 'We pray for more such measures from him.'
He also thanked all those behind the success of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. Earlier, State DGP Mukherjee and Additional DGP K V S Murthy, who presided over the celebrations, gave away mementos to the cast and crew of the film.
