        Microwave oven has become one of the fastest growing consumer products with a growth rate of more than 70 per cent, said Kamal Nandi, vice-president- sales and marketing, Godrej Appliances.

        Introducing the microsteam technology in Microwave cooking for the first time in India, he said that this innovative product has been brought in the wake of feedback from customers. And it took nearly a year for the R&D team to develop this product. The built-in steam generator of the appliance generates superheated steam which cooks food faster and hence saves time.

        The oven can be used for cooking a variety of dishes as it can work in both steam and grill mode and 24 preset menus are present , making it extremely easy to use and switch between temperatures and modes required for the vast variety of Indian food styles.

        Expressing happiness over the new product, Gomathy Shivaji, a nutritionist said that she said it is a matter of pride that the Industry had come out with something that is related to better health.

        Advocating steaming as the best method for cooking food as it reduces the fat content of the food,soft makes it, retains the original flavour and the nutrient value of the food, she said that the product would go a long way in reducing the spread of diabetes which is caused due to excessive intake of fats.

        Launching the product, television anchorperson Mamathi Chari said that the product was efficient and exciting as it saves a lot of time.Such lifestyle products she said were not for showing off to others but to enhance life through eating healthy food.
