A team of 60 NSS students from the Sri Sai Ram Engineering College have been engaging themselves in most of the social activities of the Atchirupaakam panchayat union this last fortnight.
From free eye checkups to imparting training in computer soldering and other vocational disciplines to the youths of Athivakkam, Pallipettai, Kalaignar Nagar and Pudupettai, these NSS students have been doing it all.
They also conducted various awareness programmes on tree plantation, AIDS, nonconventional energy resources, sports events, gave lectures on managerial skills and first-aid care and provided welfare assistance to four widows, a tricycle to a physically challenged person and uniforms to 50 school students.

Pradeep Yadav, who spoke on the final day of the camp, distributed the
welfare assistance to the beneficiaries. Atchiruppakkam MLA Sankari Narayanan,
College correspondent Leo Muthu and principal Seetharaman and various government
officials also participated.
