        DakshinaChitra, the heritage centre for arts, crafts and performing folk arts is now conducting a workshop on silk thread jewellery making on 31 March.

        Throughout the ages, ornaments have been worn in India not only as a means of adornment, But for certain religious and superstitious reason also the form of silk thread jewellery as well as its decorative designs and the techniques have come up to us in a innovative way.

        Thread bangles is quite exquisite and the more brilliant the colors and the more intricate the design. Wrap the glass bangles or the fiber bangles with colorful silken threads and turns them into wonderful unique bangles.

        The earrings and anklets of different shades of colors will suit for any occasion.

        The workshop will teach the art of making silk thread jewellery and the dexterous movements of the hands that turn plain bangles into beautiful, bright and colorful ones.

        The cost of the workshop will be Rs 300 inclusive of materials.
