Minister for Sports and Environment T P M Moideen Khan being introduced to the players at the inauguration of the State-level hockey tournament in Chennai yesterday.

        The response had been phenomenal for the State-level hockey tournament of the State Games which began yesterday at the SDAT Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here.

        T P M Moideen Khan, Minister for Sports and Environment, inaugurated the event in the presence of S Kumaraswamy, Vice-President, Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu and Atulya Misra, Member-Secretary, SDATN. With a view to promote sports in rural areas, the Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu held State-level competitions for men and women in athletics, basketball, football, kabaddi, swimming and volleyball in various districts. Effective this year, State Games are to be held at the level of Panchayat Union, State and District.
