It was not only a blend of artistic and cultural values which marked the second anniversary of Portamarai, an art and literary forum, but also honouring the best teacher award for Tamil held at P S High School at Mylapore, Chennai.
The function started off with a spell-bound performance of Bharathanatyam artiste Thirunangai Narthagi Natarajan.
After distributing the Best Teacher Awards to three Tamil teachers, industrialist N Mahalingam said one has to take pride and reputation of Tamil language to all parts of the country instead of just confining oneself to the boundaries of Tamilnadu alone.
It is only because of three-language formula by the Central government which prevented the presence of Tamil language in Tamilnadu', he said, adding that ancient literature should have to be in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada to make known Tamil to the younger generations.
