Tamilnadu Union of Journalists gave away Rs two lakh to the kin of deceased headquarters secretary of the union
G Valarmathy, who was also manager of Tamizh Thendral magazine, as family welfare assistance.
Also, as a mark of respect to the past secretary, State Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi unveiled a portrait of Valarmathy here yesterday.
Ilamvazhuthi and former Minister Mullaivendan handed over a cheque of Rs one lakh each to her two sons.
The function was presided
over by union president D S Ravindra Doss and its treasurer M T Stalin
welcomed the gathering. Andhra Press Academy president Amar and R Rangarajan
of Chennai Reporters Guild were also present on the occasion.
