        A motorcycle-borne duo snatched a mangalsutra from a newly married woman walking down a road at Thiruvanmiyur last night. Police are on the lookout for the culprits.

        It is reported that two men on bike were involved in chain-snatching incidents at Adyar, Besant Nagar, Indira Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Kottiwakkam, Palawakkam and Neelangarai. The victims were mostly women walking alone in these areas.

        Police said the couple which was targeted last night was Kannan of Mandavelipakkam and Rajeswari of Lakshmipuram at Thiruvanmiyur. They were married a few days ago.

        The two thieves on a two-wheeler pushed down Kannan and took away the thaali that his wife was wearing and sped away.

        Thiruvanmiyur crime branch police have registered a case in this connection and are enquiring.
