Areva T&D India Ltd recorded sales of Rs 389 crore up by 19 per cent in the second quarter, compared to last year's corresponding period. The company reported an operating profit of Rs 58 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2007 which is a jump of 53 per cent compared to previous period. Rathin Basu, managing director said, 'optimisation of capacity in our manufacturing plants and project delivery organisations have helped Areva T&D India deliver a healthy bottomline.' The half year ended sales figure stood at Rs 750.14 crore and the company's order book also illustrates healthy figures. In addition, the merger process for all its legal entities in India as announced earlier, is well on course and is expected to be completed by the end of the next quarter.
Unichem Laboratories plans big
Unichem Laboratories Ltd has chalked out a multi-pronged strategy for the future involving setting up SEZ at Pithampur,strategic alliance with US companies, filing up ANDAs and commencing a new marketing division. Revealing the company's future plans during the annual general meeting, Dr Prakash Mody, chairman and managing director said, 'the company has decided to file eight to ten ANDAs during the current financial year and this will enhance the penetration in the US market. With the aim to foray into US markets, the company filed three ANDAs in the last fiscal and filed one more ANDA during the current quarter taking the total number of ANDAs filed till date to five.
At a seminar jointly organised
by International Prune Association (IPA) and Federation of Indian Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organisation on 'Eat right and
stay young', the panelists highlighted the salient features of eating the
right food to prevent disease while staying young and healthy. Akhila Srinivasan,
chairperson, FICCI Ladies Organisation, Chennai chapter said, 'one of the
aims of FLO is to provide upto date information and awareness to its members
through our programmes. It is imperative to know what one should eat or
not eat.'
