Chennai, Dec 23:

At the time when the government is taking steps to remove unauthorised hoardings from the city, an advertising company has hurled charges against a couple of government officials for removing their hoardings put up with prior permission.

Addressing media persons here recently, S S Mariswamy Kurumans, properitor, SSM Advertising on Thiru Vi Ka Road, Chennai pointed fingers at Mylapore Taluk Deputy Tahsildar Gopi and Teynampet Traffic Sub-Inspector in-charge Suresh for removing two of his hoardings on Cenotaph Road, which were put up after obtaining prior permission from the authorities concerned. Even after getting Rs two lakh as bribe, the officials had brought down the hoardings, he alleged.

'They demanded more money. But I expressed my inability to give such a large sum and managed only Rs two lakh. However the officials removed the hoardings without mentioning any reasons,' said Kurumans.

'Every now and then, we have to give money to Revenue and Police officials to make our livelihood', he said.
