Creating awareness on diabetes

        A total of 120 students from S S Shasun Jain College for Women, T Nagar, are participating in the 10-day National Service Scheme special camp at the South Lakshmipuram village near Mudichur.

        As part of the programme, NSS wing of the college will conduct an eye screening camp today and diabetic screening tomorrow. The main aim of the programme is to create awareness among the public on diabetic care.

        The students will also clean local temple and conduct various games and competitions for the village children and women. They will also conduct a programme to create awareness on AIDS. The camp focuses on 'Health, Hygiene and Environment'.

        R Narayanaswamy, professor, Shri S S Shasun Jain College for Women, said that it was a great opportunity for the students to experience the rural life and interact with the people.

        The students can get a chance to learn the success stories of the women SHGs in the village.

        M B Nirmal, founder, Exnora International, Devaki Krishnakumar, principal, Shri S S Shasun Jain College for Women and P Damodharan, president, Mudichur Panchayat, were present at the inaugural function of the camp on Wednesday.
