Chennai, Dec 23:
Eighteen wheat bags were found abandoned at the entrance to Chennai harbour. Hearing the incident, police rushed to the spot and took possession of the bags.
It is customary to send wheat containers from the Chennai port to various godowns of Tamilnadu Food and Civil Supplies Corporation across the city. Early this morning, 18 wheat bags were found abandoned at the entrance to the port.
On being tipped off, North
Beach police arrived at the scene and confiscated the unclaimed bags. An
enquiry is on whether the wheat bags slipped off during transit to godowns
or there was a conspiracy to smuggle them out in the first place.
