Chennai, Dec 23:
Velammal International School pitched in its instant support for the AIFF under-13 boys festival from 23-29 December at the school's facility in Pancheti.
At a media briefing yesterday, C R Visswanathan, vice-president, All India Football Federation, said a start has been made in keeping with the idea of developing the game at the grassroots level. 'Not only football, the boys will be subjected to quizzes and varied cultural programmes. Federation is pleased to give Rs 25000 as incentive for each representing State.'
Violation of age rules meant disqualification of eight teams even before the take-off. That left only 16 teams in fray.
As a foolproof method, the
list of all the under-13 players would be kept in database, said Dr Shaji
Prabhakaran, Director Vision, AIFF. 'There will be a six-week camp (22
probables) for the forthcoming AFC festival in Bangladesh.'
