With consumer activism taking deep roots in our society, it is high time for the manufacturing sectors to concentrate more on delivering quality products, observed S L Sarnot, Director General, Department of Information Technology.
Speaking at a three-day meet on reliability and safety engineering jointly organised by the Kharagpur IIT and Chennai-based Centre for Reliability (MCIT) held here recently, he said that there are plethora of unsafe and unreliable products in the market which would not augur well for the companies.
Moreover, only those companies manufacturing quality and safe products could survive in these days of stiff competiton.
Underlining the need for reliability engineering, he said it is for the companies to employ researchers involved in this discipline for gainful use in the manufacturing sector.
He urged the manufacturing sector to give emphasis on product specification and design keeping in view of the customers needs.
