        Veteran actor Vijayan who had acted in over 100 films in Tamil and Malayalam passed away in the wee hours of today due to cardiac arrest at a private hospital. He is 63 and ailing for sometime.

        Vijayan, a native of Kozhikode, was introduced to cinema by director Bharathiraja in Kizhakae Pogum Rayil. He followed it up with prominent roles in several films including Niram Maratha Pookal, Pasi, Oru Vidukathiyin Oru Thodarkathai, Palaivana Rojakal. Vijayan's performance in director Mahendran's Uthiripookal was critically acclaimed. Vijayan had also acted in Mani Ratnam's Nayakan, Ramana and Run.

        He is currently shooting for Sundar C's Ayudham Seivom. Vijayan is survived by his daughter.
