Reach for Moon fest

Pongal in Tamilnadu, Sankaranthi in Andhra Pradesh, Onam in Kerala and Baisaki in northern parts of the country. With harvest festivals being thus celebrated with the above names across India, what could be the name of the festival in the neighbouring China? Well, it is the Moon Festival, which is one of the most important events in the Chinese calendar.

To commemorate it, The Residency at T Nagar in Chennai has come out with a 11-day food festival in its Chin Chin restaurant.

Dubbed as 'The Chinese Moon Festival', everything has been planned in a way to give the 'feel of China' to the guests.

The expert team of chefs (including Chinese ones), headed by executive chef S Shanmugam, made sure that the gourmets have an unforgettable time in the restaurant by serving them dishes like Mixed Vegetable in Plum Sauce, Three Treasure Tofu, Polo Chicken, Shredded Lamb Peking Style and of course, the Moon Cakes.

Says Shanmugam: 'All that we wanted to present our guests is 100 per cent Chinese cuisine. For that, along with our Chinese chefs, we did intense research by reading literature and browsing the web. Later, we made the dishes and tested it with our own staff. Only after all these procedures our dishes reach the customer.'

The Chinese Moon Festival offers lunch and dinner between 20 and 30 September at the restaurant. For more details, contact Chin Chin at 28253434.
