        Qualifiers in the 45+ singles, 55+ singles and 65+ singles events were identified yesterday in the inaugural T S Santhanam Memorial National clay court veterans tennis championship, organised here by The Mylapore Club.

        In the 45+ category, local player Karthik Kailash was forced to concede his tie to Nirmal Kumar when trailing 6-7 (6), 5-4. Qualifiers in this section include Selvam, M Jayakumar, Senthil Kumar, Anand Mohan (all TN), C Vijayakumar, Dhananajayalu, Koteeswar Rao (AP).

        The qualifiers in the 55+ section are: Dr Chandrasekar, Varahalaya (AP), K Rajendran, J Cherian (Kar), M Azizullah (AP), who blanked B N Murthy (AP) 6-0, 6-0 and V R Kulkarni (Kar).

        In the 65+ event, Dr S V Raghavendra Rao (AP) routed S Viswanathan (TN) 6-0, 6-0 to qualify for the main draw along with Biswa Kumar, A V Dayanand, K K Arvind, J E Joseph, C R G Reddy.
