        Cell phones worth Rs one lakh were stolen from a shop in Pallavakkam near here last night.

        Police said that the thieves had broken the tiles of the roof of a shop on the East Coast Road, run by one Indhukumar, and taken away expensive mobile phones, chargers, SIM cards and recharge coupons.

        Investigations revealed that an unidentified man packed the cell phones in a sack and handed it over to another man outside the shop.

        Pallavakkam police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
