        A woman was killed in a road accident near here and her husband, who was also hit succumbed to his injuries.

        According to police, Neelamegan (50) of Pooncholaikuppam, near Pudhur in Cuddalore district and his wife Thamizhselvi (45) were on the way to a relative's house at Arasamangalam on a motorcycle on 10 January, 2007, to invite him for their daughter's marriage. They were going to Panruti via the Koliyanur cross road on Puduchery- Villupuram road. Near Panchamadevi, a government bus on the way to Tirupati from Neyveli hit them.

        Thamizhselvi died on the spot, while Neelamegan was admitted to the Government Hospital at Chennai, where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Valavanur police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
