Another feather to neurologist's cap

Dr E S Krishnamoorthy
       Neurologist and neuropsychiatrist Dr E S Krishnamoorthy was recently elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow and the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.

        The fellowship has been extended to the city doctor in recognition of his contribution in the field of medicine. It is said that Dr Krishnamoorthy at 40 years of age is the youngest physician from India to receive this dual honour. Besides, he holds the T S Srinivasan Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at the Institute of Neurological Sciences of the VHS, Taramani.

        He heads a team of researchers and initiated many social welfare projects, benefiting thousands. He is a member of the International League against Epilepsy and the International Neuropsychiatry Association and directs the Neurosciences India Group. He is an adjunct professor at the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras.

        He has gained wide recognition with his numerous publications and lectures at several international seminars and meetings. His team has worked with many global institutions.

        Dr Krishnamoorthy is currently engaged in bridging speciality areas like neurology and psychiatry with public health, it said. His current area of research focuses on community-level disability due to neuropsychiatric disorders. His group has been engaged in development of a concrete health and service policy for India and other developing nations. His work has led to significant development in areas like epilepsy and dementia.
