        The body of a man was found buried in the sands of the beach at Pattinapakkam MRC Nagar here this morning. The body surfaced when sand was excavated.

        Police said the sands were dug up with an excavator last night and taken to a building at Thiruvanmiyur. When the workers were digging, they were shocked to see the body.

        Adyar police was informed and they found an identity card revealing the name of the dead as Johnson (31), Periyar Nagar, Palawakkam. They enquired at the address given on the card. And the family identified the body and said that since Monday, Johnson had gone missing. He was employee in a cooking gas company at Adyar. The police have sent the body to Government Royapettah Hospital for post- mortem. Police suspect that someone had kidnapped Johnson and murdered him before burying his body in the sands.
