        Air India has bagged the Montreal Protocol Public Awareness Award on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol — a global pact for preserving the ozone layer.

        The coveted award presented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was in recognition of Air India's efforts in the protection of the ozone layer. National Aviation Company joint managing director Vishwapati Trivedi received the honour in Montreal recently in the presence of Nobel Prize winners who had presented their views on the depletion of ozone layer.

        Air India's association with the UNEP began in 2005 with a number of joint activities that were launched with Ozone Action Programme. moreover, Air India took up awareness drive on the need to protect ozone layer and other issues like energy conservation and protecting forests through in-flight magazines and videos.
