Coolers: Big is in, small is out

        Moving ahead with the latest trends, today's youngsters seem to prefer wearing sunglasses which are bigger and bolder than the small and lengthy ones which were till now preferred.

        Cashing in on this, businessmen dealing with spectacles are seeing brisk sales.

        Rakesh, a college student, recently purchased such bigger sunglasses at Rs 900. He says, 'basically, I am conscious of what I'm wearing and I'm just moving with the times so, I prefer wearing this sunglass.'

        Anand, another college student, says people are changing everyday and wearing stylish sunglasses is the order of the day.

        Referring to a song New York Nagaram from the movie Jillendru Oru Kaadhal in which actor Suriya wears a big sunglass, Anand say movies like these make an impact on youth.

        Siva, who's in-charge of a popular optical showroom at Kodambakkam, says, 'at present, wearing bigger sunglasses is the in-thing. Very rarely do people go in for smaller sunglasses.'

        Balaji from Lawrence and Mayo showroom says that many women prefer wearing bigger sunglasses these days. He says that though there are such types of sunglasses available for men, colours like pink, orange are preferred by women. He points out that a large number of branded sunglasses have now come out with big sizes while brands like Ray Ban, ID, Vogue still come out with smaller ones which are preferred by quite a number.

        Ram Kiran, an ardent fan of Kollywood star Rajini Kanth, says he began to wear bigger sunglasses after seeing his hero wearing such a one in a still of the movie Sivaji which is yet to hit the screens. 'My favourite star (Rajini) is the ultimate man in making fashion statements and I've been floored by him,' he adds with a smile.
