        Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today gave away Rs 6 lakh each to the heirs of 14 Tamil scholars whose works were nationalised by the State government.

        It may be noted that a GO was passed nationalising the works of 14 Tamil scholars Mayuram Vedanayagam Pillai, Sakthi V Govindan, T P Meenakshi Sundaranar, T N Kumarasamy, K S Pillai, Pulavar Gulam Kadiru Navalar, Dr S Elakkuvanar, T V Sadasiva Pandarathar, Mahavidwan Dhandapani Desigar, T J Ranganathan, Narana Duraikannan, Dr M Rasamanickanar, Dr V SP Manickam and Pulavar K Govindan. Also, a consolation amount was announced for the heirs. Of the 14 Tamil scholars, 11 heirs today received the consolation amount from the Chief Minister at the Secretariat.
