        Applications for renewal of trade licence for the year 2007-08 will be accepted till 31 March at all the ten zonal offices of the Corporation on all working days between 10 am and 3 pm for the convenience of traders.

        Those who fail to renew their licences within the stipulated time would have to pay 50 per cent of the scheduled fee as penalty, if they apply for renewal between 1 and 30 April and 100 per cent penalty over the scheduled fee would be charged for those who renew the licence between 1 May and 31 March 2008 of the next year. 'Beyond this time limit, the licence will be automatically treated as cancelled,' says a release from the Corporation.

        Traders are requested to pay the licence fee, conservancy charge, PFA charge in a single DD drawn in favour of Revenue Officer, Corporation of Chennai along with the licence application form for renewal of licence, besides enclosing the last year's photostat copy of the licence and two passport size photographs of the licensee.

        Profession tax

        All pay drawing officers and self-drawing officers of State and Central government departments, PSUs, autonomous bodies, private firms, professionals, TNGST assessees and self-employed persons engaged in any business or commercial enterprises should remit profession tax before 31 March 2007 for the second half-year of 2006-07, along with the balance if any pending to avoid penalty.
