Cuddalore, Jul 21:
A 45-year-old woman was electrocuted when she stepped over a live electric wire in a farm near Cuddalore today.
Following this, a few members of Viduthalai Siruthaigal blocked roads condemning the negligent attitude of Electricity Board for not setting the wire right and demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the victim's family, police said.
The victim Kolanji (45) of Tuticorin was engaged in a work in a farmland when she accidently stepped over the wire and was electrocuted.
When the news of the incident spread, members belonging to Viduthalai Siruthaigal led by its secretary Mathiazhagan conducted a road-roko.
Virudhachalam Tahsildar and a few police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the agitated crowd, which later dispersed.
