Woman fights chain-snatchers

NT Bureau
Chennai, July 21:

Two thieves, who tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman, landed in trouble when she put up a fight with them and fended off the chain-snatchers by herself before one of the accused was caught red-handed by the public at Egmore here today.

It is said two unidentified men entered the house of Meena on Gengu Reddy Street under the pretext of asking for an address. When Meena noticed their strange behaviour, she asked them to leave the house.

But the duo pushed her down, strangled her with a nylon wire. But Meena offered resistance and bit one of the thieve's hand, while the other fled the spot. On hearing her cries, one Tamzhilarasu, a laundry owner, came to her rescue and chased the accused and caught him near a railway track at Egmore. And handed him over to the police. The identity of the culprit is yet to be ascertained.
