Fun and frolic by girls in colourful attire marked a variety of competitions held at Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College for Women at Vepery, Chennai. As the sound of music reverberated, the audience was on its feet filling the day with excitement.
The occasion was the holding of various entertainment programmes yesterday as part of Sargam 2007- an inter- collegiate cultural festival.
Be it applying make- up for the bride or gift-wrapping competition, the efforts of the students were worth appreciating. Making it a Herculean task for the judges, it was the competitors who by putting their best efforts made the audience spell-bound.
A row of television and cinema artistes witnessed the events and adjudged the winners. TV artiste Pooja decided the winners for the event, 'Couple Charisma'.
Singer Nikhil Mathew judged the best mellifluous voice among he participants in 'pattukku paatu'. Others celebrities appeared on stage and they included dance director Shridhar and playback singer Mahathi.
It was the presence of actor
Jeyam Ravi and director Jeyam Raja who delighted the students. Earlier,
after inaugurating the cultural fest, Minister of Information, Publicity
and Urban Development Parithi Ilamvazhuthi urged the students to give more
importance to education as it plays a pivotal role in the development of
a person.
