        Ameen Sayani, the much sought after radio host of North India will make his presence at Gaata Rahe Mera Dil, a concert organised by Divine Mother Society (DMS) in Chennai on 20 January.

        Addressing press persons yesterday, DMS convenor S Arvind said the fund raiser event would feature evergreen hits of all time superstar singers like Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh, Lata, Asha and Yesudas apart from the on stage performance by Sayani.

        'Golden hits from 1960s and 1970s will be recretaed by the star studded team of artists from across the country,' he said.

        Sayani who had all praise for the attempts being made by DMS for the upliftment of the downtrodden said he used to help his best whenever he gets an opportunity to serve for a noble cause.

        To a question on the sudden increase in the number of FM radio stations in the country, Sayani said this shows a healthy sign of the growth of listeners.

        However, he felt that the media should focus on social issues too, apart from featuring spicy and film based contents. In his advice to the up and coming radio jockeys, Sayani said it was the hardwork and the spirit that would take anyone to greater heights.

        Recalling his early stages a radio host, Sayani said he started his career for a salary of Rs 25 per week.

        On his favourite singers, Sayani said Kishore, Rafi, Mukesh, Latha Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle were his heartthrobs.
