        A man running a chit fund was assaulted by a depositor after the former asked him money for bidding for a chit.

        According to police, Suresh (28) was running a chit company near Mahabalipuram. One Selvakumar of the same area joined the chit scheme. A year ago, Selvakumar had bid for the chit and took the money. After that he stopped remitting the monthly chit amount. Suresh was repeatedly asking him but Selvakumar kept dodging him.

        Yesterday, when Suresh asked Selvakumar for the money but the latter got angry and he assaulted the chit owner along with his friends Muthukumar (28), Logamathu (30) and Ezhumalai (25). Suresh was admitted to the Government Hospital at Chengalpattu.

        A complaint in this connection was lodged at the Mahabalipuram police station. Police have registered a case and are enquiring.
