Institute of Distance Education of University of Madras has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with London-based British Institute of Technology and E-commerce (BITE) on fast-track course in management and technology.
Madras University Vice-Chancellor S Ramachandran and principal and director of BITE Muhammad Farmer exchanged the MoU in Chennai yesterday.
As per the agreement, students enrolled under distance education system of Madras University can undergo one-year fast- track Master's programme in Management and Technology at BITE.
Anyone who had completed their undergraduation in the streams concerned would be eligible to apply for the post-graduation courses. No entrance examination would be conducted.
The main highlight of the MoU is that students would be offered 45 per cent scholarship. After completion of course at BITE, students would be qualified for International Graduate Scheme(IGS), which would help them work and stay in London as full-time employee for a one-year period.
Speaking on the pact, Ramachandran said, 'Its aim is to provide quality higher education to the students. This will be a value-added service to them. We are restructuring and reworking our activities so that students will get maximum benefit from the university'.
Muhammad Farmer said this would be a good platform for the students to develop knowledge.

is unique and we offer courses in communication, nanotechnology, tourism
management, business law, IT security among others', he added.
