        The body of a man with a severed head was washed ashore near Ennore this morning. This created a flutter in the area around Periyakuppam, a fishermen's Village near Ennore in north Chennai.

        On sighting the torso, people immediately informed the Ennore police which sent the body to the Stanley Government Hospital for postmortem. The identity of the deceased has not been established.

        Police are investigating.
