        A youth was killed when a tractor hit his motorcycle near Vanur here.

        According to police, Dakshinamurthy (23), son of Thirupathinayan of Kudumiyankuppam near Vanur, was going to Villupuram via Puducherry on the Villupuram-Puducherry national highway when a tractor with two trailers carrying sugarcane proceeding to Villupuram rammed into his bike at Kudumiyankuppam.

        Dakshinamurthy sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to Government Hospital but he died.

        Valavanur police have registered a case and arrested the tractor driver Sendhilmurugan (22) of Pudhur. Further investigations are on.

        Girl dies

        Priya (1-1/4), daughter of Muthukumar Gounder of Pulichapallam near Vanur, was playing near Eswaran temple located close to her house when she fell into a tank meant to clean idols. She was taken to Puducherry JIPMER Hospital but she died on the way.

        Vanur police have registered a case and are enquiring.
