Sir,
The Finance Minister has a sick sense of logic. Instead of trying to contain inflation, he has dished out a statistical alibi that inflation during the NDA regime was 8 per cent. For the common man, the ground reality is that the prices of all essential commodities are rocketing today. The reduction in fuel prices are not going to be of any help since the benefits are not going to be passed on to the consumer.
The main and only reason for the accelerating inflation is the increase in the amount of service tax. It is also fairly imminent that the FM is contemplating on further increase in the service tax and also attempting to cover more commodities under it. Budgetary sops in the form of making senior cetizens age as 60 years, marginally increasing the IT slab, etc., are all an eye-wash as these will hardly reduce the common man's hardships.

Sir,
The High Court has passed severe strictures against the State Election Commissioner in Tamilnadu and in all fairness SEC should not only resign but also offer an explanation for his baffling blindness and stony silence during the crucial time.
He should be treated as any other State employee who has failed to perform his duties and disciplinary action initiated against him since public money and precious time are wasted due to his gross negligence and callous indifference.
