        Chennai police have arrested five persons here today in connection with flesh trade.

        Following a complaint on fresh trade being carried on in the city by a gang headed by one Prasad alias Kannada Prasad, a special team from Central Crime Branch launched a hunt for the culprit.

        The police said a team gathered intelligence from various sources in Chennai and Bangalore for the past few days and finally on a tip- off, they took one Bharathi Kannan who forced three girls into prostitution in a Maruti Zen on 15 February after a chase at Kodambakkam.

        A special party continued their effort and arrested one Sarvanakumar with six girls from Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Tirupathi and they were carried in a TATA Sumo on Alandur road for prostitution. There, the girls were rescued and sent home. And the accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
