Man fights with wife, ends life in mid-sea

The sea spoilt their togetherness.  A 30-year-old man on a voyage from Andaman to Chennai along with his wife and children committed suicide in mid-sea by jumping off the ship after he got into a quarrel with his wife.

Tractor kills motorcyclist

A youth was killed when a tractor hit his motorcycle near Vanur here.
According to police, Dakshinamurthy (23), son of Thirupathinayan of Kudumiyankuppam near Vanur, was going to Villupuram via Puducherry on the Villupuram-Puducherry national highway when a tractor with two trailers carrying sugarcane proceeding to Villupuram rammed into his bike at Kudumiyankuppam.

Body of man sans head washed ashore

The body of a man with a severed head was washed ashore near Ennore this morning. This created a flutter in the area around Periyakuppam, a fishermen’s Village near Ennore in north Chennai. 

Northern districts less prone to crime: IGP

There is a drop in criminal cases in the districts of Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Vellore and Thiruvannamalai districts during the last year. However, there was a marginal increase in cases like assault which was largely due to violence during the Assembly and local body elections held in May and October 2006. 

Man loses cash  to another in auto

A passerby lost cash to a person in an auto at Thiruvanmiyur here last night. Police said Balaguru (74), a resident of Radhakrishnan Nagar at Thiruvanmiyur, was walking down Radhakrishnan Nagar 2nd Cross Street when an autorickshaw came close to him and the man in the passenger seat snatched the bag of Balaguru and sped away.
