        Vidvan Palghat R Raghu will be conferred the Sangita Kalanidhi award during the 81st annual conference of the Music Academy to be held from 15 December 2007 to 1 January 2008.

        According to a press release, the Executive Committee of the Music Academy at his meeting held recently has chosen Raghu to preside over the annual conference. The award would be given to him on the concluding day of the conference.

        The Committee has also decided to confer the following awards such as Sangita Kala Acharya awards to B Krishnamurthy and V Subramaniam, T T K awards to Seetarama Sharma and Sita Dorai-swamy and Vaggeyakkara award to G S Mani.
