        A 21-year-old man was held, based on a complaint filed by his ladylove after her bid to commit suicide failed, near Basin Bridge, here last night.

        Police said, that Sandeesh, a resident of Basin bridge, had been friendly with a girl from the same area for more than five years. Hearing that a marriage proposal for Sandeesh had been accepted by his parents the girl had tried to commit suicide by consuming rat poison.

        Following this, she was admitted to Stanley Government Hospital for treatment.

        Based on a complaint filed by her, police have arrested the boy.
