RS seat: Race hots up in TNCC

NT Bureau
Chennai, May 16:

Senior leaders of TNCC are up in arms against AICC member in-charge of Tamilnadu affairs Veerappa Moily who is to be nominated as the Tamilnadu candidate for Rajya Sabha.

It may be noted that the Election Commission had announced election of six members to Rajya Sabha from Tamilnadu following expiry of term for the existing members.

Even when there is stiff competition among senior TNCC leaders to contest for the Rajya Sabha seats, Union Minister G K Vasan is making allout efforts to make Veerappa Moily as a Rajya Sabha member.

Senior leaders have taken up this issue with the party high command. As a step further, the leaders who are now camping in Delhi are understood to have asked the AICC leader to desist from giving a ticket to Veerappa Moily citing the vexatious Cauvery water issue.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader S R Balasubramonian is camping in Delhi to get either Rajya Sabha seat or a Governor's post.
