Korean films being well received by the Chennai audience brought cheers in the crisp speech of Do Seung Hwan. The Director of Korea Trade Centre, representing the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, felt privileged to inaugurate the seven-film package at the South Indian Chamber Mondday.
Incidentally, for the first time in India, a full-length Korean film The Host is to be released in Chennai this month, dubbed in four languages including Tamil.

recounted the activities of the centre and the specialised efforts to educate
the students.

Mozhi winning universal acclaim. 'Korean films are known for its rich culture and traditions. It is a great opportunity to savour the offerings, periodically brought by the concerted efforts of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and Indo Cine Appreciation Forum.'
A Natarajan, former Director, Doordarshan Kendra - Chennai, felt such offerings provided a rare dimension in getting to know the cultural ethos of Korea known for its quality offerings.
Cine artiste Gowthami felt delighted 'to use the advantage and watch the package in one roof. You do not get it every day.'
E Thangaraj, general secretary, International Cine Appreciation Forum, thanked the continuous support of Korean Embassy. He acknowledged the timely sponsorship support of Nalli Kuppuswamy during last year's Chennai International Film Festival.
Typhoon was the opening fare, directed by Kwak Gyeong-Taek. The plot follows Sin, a North Korean, who as a child attempted to defect to the South with his family.
Caught in the betrayal act, Sin loses his parents. Plotting genocidal revenge, he joins a group of Thai pirates.
Action is on a higher plane when Sin steals a US ship carrying nuclear devices discreetly manufactured in Taiwan. He is pursud by Kang Se Jong, a naval officer who valiants seeks justice for Sin. Absorbing is the climax where Sin gets to know the truth to the extent of sympathising with his foe.
